Dr. Jeff Mandel met with Senator Amy Klobuchar and local firefighters to discuss work-related exposures of firefighters and increased cancer risk. Research suggests that their exposure to fumes and toxins leads to a higher rate of cancer. As a result of this research, Senator Klobuchar introduced a bill to create a national registry for firefighters diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Mandel is the Academic Program Director of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Program.
